The Jolivet Concertino, while a short piece with a cute name, is actually quite difficult. I remember thinking to myself before this weekend’s concerts, “Why didn’t I just play the Haydn?” It turned out all right, though. Here is a performance from 2003.

Here’s a performance of Stardust with piano at the 50th anniversary concert of my dear friends Ken and Marjie Smith in 2006. I also recorded this concert, which was made into my first album as a producer. Ken was a trumpet player and the first night Ken and Marjie met he was playing this tune at a bar. Love at first sight, as they say.

I sat in the other week with my friend Cindy “Chilani” at the “Burlesque” party at Lucky 13 in Singapore, and somebody took a bootleg video.  Here’s her version of “Why Don’t You Do Right” with me in a bow tie playing a few notes.

In the summer of 2008 I lived for a couple months in Sofia, Bulgaria, and we met the guys from the historic Bulgarian band New Generation at the Spirit of Burgas music festival, which is an awesome summer festival on the beach of the Black Sea.  We hung out a lot that summer, and I played a little bit for their new album.  Here is the last track on that album, titled Bezdeistvie, which ends with a little trumpet solo.

Here’s the second movement of the Haydn concerto from 2002.  Incidentally, this performance began at the exact time that Tom Brady was starting the last field goal drive to beat the Rams in the Super Bowl.  They had to drag me out of the stage crew office backstage to make me play this.   Click here for the first movement.
